Have you got any trips coming up? Are you going to take a lot of pictures there? Then listen to this dialogue to learn how to ask someone to take a picture of you! Enjoy this quick lesson with Taylah , teacher from Fluency Academy!

The Dialogue:

Hannah: Look! The Charging Bull!
John: Wow! I always wanted to see that statue in person!
Hannah: It looks smaller than expected, to be honest.
John: I don’t think so. Well, we need a picture here! Let’s ask that man!
Hannah: Excuse me, sir. Could you please take a picture of us?
Guy: Sure, no problem! Say cheese!

Vocabulary Expansion:

In person
As you learned in this episode, we use the expression “in person” referring to something that happens face to face, when you are in the same space as the other person or the thing in question. Here are some sentences containing that expression:

I always wanted to see that statue in person!
Can we discuss it in person?
He met DiCaprio in person last month.

To be honest
To give emphasis to your opinion or statement and how honest it is, you can add “to be honest” at the end or beginning of your sentence. Here are some examples:

It looks smaller than expected, to be honest.
To be honest, I don’t think it is a good idea to go alone.
We don’t really know her, to be honest.

Could you please
And finally, we have a polite way to request something, which you can use when speaking to anyone, when you need a favor. Check out some more examples using this structure:

Could you please take a picture of us?
Could you please grab us a glass of water?
Could you call her, please?

We hope this content was helpful and that you enjoyed the episode! Don’t forget that you can listen to it as many times as you want and that the more you practice, the more confident you will feel. See you next time!
