Now, how about we get started? In this episode, we\u2019re going to talk about some of the hottest stories of this week, and we\u2019ll get some explanations in Portuguese!<\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019re starting this episode talking about her, of course. One of the world\u2019s most famous paintings, \u201cLa Gioconda\u201d, AKA \u201cMona Lisa\u201d was attacked in the Louvre Museum last week.<\/em><\/p>\n

Where to begin? A man wearing a wig passed through security in a wheelchair and tried to smash the protective glass that encases the painting. That being bulletproof, let\u2019s just say the guy wasn\u2019t successful. Unhappy with his failed attempt, the man decided to throw what seems to be a cake at it, YES, A CAKE. The man threw a cake at Mona Lisa.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThink of the Earth\u201d, the attacker called out. \u201cThere are people who are destroying the Earth. Think about it. Artists tell you: think of the Earth. That\u2019s why I did this\u201d, he justified.<\/em><\/p>\n

Security escorted him out of the museum, where it\u2019s been displayed since 1797, and thankfully Leonardo da Vinci\u2019s 16th-century masterpiece wasn\u2019t damaged thanks to the bulletproof glass that was installed after previous attacks.<\/em><\/p>\n

No wonder it needs that kind of protection. The 77-centimeter painting\u2019s been through a lot over the centuries. Besides being stolen and damaged, it was thrown paint and mugs at. It was even placed in kings\u2019 bathrooms before being placed at the museum. Poor Mona Lisa. Let\u2019s hope she has some peace and quiet for a while.<\/em><\/p>\n

No comecinho dessa hist\u00f3ria, voc\u00ea me escutou dizendo AKA. Essa \u00e9 uma das siglas que s\u00e3o usadas na fala, de forma bem comum. FYI n\u00e3o \u00e9 usada em contextos formais, mas em conversas entre amigos, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel que voc\u00ea escute, ao inv\u00e9s de For Your Information.<\/em><\/p>\n

Agora vamos falar do assunto do momento: Stranger Things. Envia esse epis\u00f3dio para aquele seu amigo fascinado pela s\u00e9rie pra ele ficar sabendo de todas essas novidades!<\/em><\/p>\n

Last week we talked about season 4 volume 1 being released on Friday the 27th, and now here I come with what went on during the week. Stranger Things 4\u2019 Volume 1 logged the biggest premiere weekend ever for a Netflix original series with 286.79 Million hours viewed, surpassing Bridgerton Season 2, which drew 193M.<\/em><\/p>\n

The first volume has only seven episodes, but all of them are more than an hour long, so it might take you a little longer to binge-watch this one.<\/em><\/p>\n

Fans are now eagerly waiting for the second volume that will be released on July 1st and will have only two episodes. But don\u2019t worry, because they\u2019ll be more than an hour and the last one will be more than two and a half hours long. That\u2019s basically a Marvel movie, so I guess Netflix will have time enough to answer the questions that came up on volume 1 finale.<\/em><\/p>\n

Excited already? Oh, and if you wait till the end of the last episode, you\u2019ll find a hidden teaser of what to expect of the next volume. I\u2019m sure that if you haven\u2019t realized that, you\u2019ll be coming back to see what you missed.<\/em><\/p>\n

Em ingl\u00eas, a palavra \u201clong\u201d significa \u201clongo\u201d. Mas n\u00f3s temos outros usos pra essa palavra, como aqui nessa hist\u00f3ria. N\u00f3s falamos que os epis\u00f3dios s\u00e3o \u201can hour long\u201d, ou \u201ctwo and a half hours long\u201d. Aqui, o significado da palavra muda, se transformando em uma indica\u00e7\u00e3o de dura\u00e7\u00e3o. Significa que os epis\u00f3dios t\u00eam uma hora de dura\u00e7\u00e3o, ou duas horas e meia de dura\u00e7\u00e3o. Se voc\u00ea n\u00e3o quiser usar essa palavra, voc\u00ea pode dizer \u201cthe episode lasts an hour\u201d, or \u201cthat episode lasts over two hours\u201d. Mas o mais comum \u00e9 usar \u201clong\u201d mesmo.<\/em><\/p>\n

And last, but not least, let\u2019s try to imagine what you think a big plant is. I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll be surprised to know that it\u2019s not even close to what you imagined. The world\u2019s largest plant was found in what is now known as Shark Bay, just off the Australian west coast.<\/em><\/p>\n

A single 4,500-year-old seagrass spread over 200 square kilometers of underwater seafloor. And how much is that? \u201cJust\u201d about 28,000 soccer fields.<\/em><\/p>\n

Scientists from the University of Western Australia and Flinders University initially thought the plant was a meadow of different sea grasses, but genetic testing proved otherwise.<\/em><\/p>\n

The species is commonly found along the southern coastlines of Australia and the scientist first thought that all of it consisted of more than one plant, but samples taken from sites that were 180 km apart suggested there were not multiple specimens of it.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe thought \u2018what the hell is going on here?\u2019\u201d said Dr Martin Breed, an ecologist at Flinders University. \u201cWe were completely stumped.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The one plant now spreads out like a meadow, providing habitat for a huge array of marine species including turtles, dolphins, crabs and fish.<\/em><\/p>\n

A palavra \u201cmeadow\u201d significa \u201ccampo\u201d, \u201cprado\u201d, ou \u201ccampina\u201d. \u00c9 o substantivo que define uma expans\u00e3o de grama, mato, de natureza selvagem. Imagine os campos que voc\u00ea v\u00ea quando est\u00e1 no interior, cheio de grama natural, pequenas plantas, que s\u00e3o o habitat de milhares de pequenas criaturas. Esses campos s\u00e3o formados naturalmente por muitas plantas diversas, mas aqui, os cientistas descobriram que o campo, a campina, o prado debaixo d\u2019\u00e1gua \u00e9 composto por uma planta s\u00f3.<\/em><\/p>\n
