J\u00e1 pensou cruzar o mar e atravessar de um pa\u00eds a outro em um veleiro? Pode soar bacana, mas na verdade \u00e9 algo bem perigoso, as 75 pessoas resgatadas pela guarda costeira da Gr\u00e9cia sabem bem disso\u2026<\/p>\n

Greece’s <\/em>coastguard<\/em> on Friday said it had rescued 75 migrants <\/em>on board<\/em> a <\/em>sailboat<\/em> caught in <\/em>stormy seas<\/em> south of the Peloponnese peninsula. The coastguard said that the 69 men and six women were in good health after the sailboat was safely <\/em>towed<\/em> to a local <\/em>port<\/em>. Their nationalities were not disclosed.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 2015, Greece experienced a migration explosion when they received the world\u2019s greatest migration movement since the second world war. The Greek government is being accused of illegally returning migrants to Turkey – it is forbidden for a country who receives migrants to return them at the moment. However, Greece affirms that the one responsible for the shipwrecks in the Aegean sea is Turkey.<\/em><\/p>\n

At least 30 people drowned in two migrant <\/em>boat sinkings<\/em> near the Peloponnese and the island of Lesbos earlier this month.<\/em><\/p>\n

Greece, Italy and Spain are among the first ports of call for people fleeing Africa and the Middle East in search of safety and better lives in the European Union.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Greek coastguard says it has rescued about 1,500 people in the first eight months of the year, up from less than 600 last year.<\/em><\/p>\n

Elas estavam \u201con board of a sailboat\u201d, ou seja, a bordo de um veleiro. ON BOARD – A BORDO<\/em><\/p>\n

Mas, esse \u201csailboat\u201d was \u201ccaught in stormy seas\u201d – A storm \u00e9 uma tempestade, e aquilo que \u00e9 \u201cstormy\u201d \u00e9 algo \u201ctempestuoso\u201d ou que est\u00e1 na \u201ctormenta\u201d. Ent\u00e3o, estavam em uma parte tempestuosa do mar.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mas, felizmente, \u201cthe sailboat was safely towed to a local port.\u201d – Aqui a gente tem um verbo um pouco incomum \u201ctowed\u201d, que significa \u201crebocado\u201d, ou seja, levado por outro ve\u00edculo. Para um \u201clocal port\u201d, ou seja \u201cum porto local\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

E o caos continua na Europa! A primeira-ministra Liz Truss renuncia o cargo ap\u00f3s meros 44 dias liderando\u2026 Vamos tentar descobrir o porqu\u00ea e o que acontece agora:<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned on Thursday following a failed tax-cutting budget that rocked financial markets and which led to a revolt within her own Conservative Party. She was in office for just 44 days, making her the shortest-serving prime minister in British history.<\/em><\/p>\n

She said in a statement outside 10 Downing Street, \u201cI recognize though, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party. I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to announce that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The party must now indicate a new Prime Minister. This time, the process is expected to be much faster than the two-month affair that put Ms. Truss into office. There will be no prolonged campaign, with plans to have a result by next week, possibly as soon as Monday.<\/em><\/p>\n

Just like herself, the country\u2019s next leader will not be selected by a vote of the general population. Instead, the 357 Conservative members of Parliament and, perhaps, about 170,000 dues-paying members of the Conservative Party will choose the party\u2019s next leader, who will then become the prime minister. Members of the party are far more likely than the rest of the country\u2019s 67 million residents to be male, older, middle-class and white, according to demographic research published in 2018.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ent\u00e3o ouvimos que essa decis\u00e3o \u201crocked the financial markets\u201d – Ou seja, \u201cabalou\u201d os mercados financeiros.<\/p>\n

E a\u00ed ent\u00e3o a frase termina com \u201cand which led to a revolt within her own Conservative Party.\u201d – Ou seja, o que levou a uma revolta dentro do seu pr\u00f3prio partido.<\/em><\/p>\n

E a palavra que eu queria comentar aqui \u00e9 “WITHIN” <\/em>– que significa \u201cdentro\u201d. A gente t\u00e1 acostumado com \u201cinside\u201d, que tamb\u00e9m significa \u201cdentro\u201d, mas de uma forma mais literal. J\u00e1 o within pode ser usado para falar de tempo e dist\u00e2ncia, e pra coisas mais abstratas, olha os exemplos:<\/p>\n

The answer is within you – a resposta est\u00e1 dentro de voc\u00ea.<\/p>\n

You must answer within 3 days.- voc\u00ea deve responder dentro de 3 dias.<\/p>\n

E no mundo do pop essa foi uma semana de festa porque saiu \u00e1lbum novo da maior premiada pelo Grammy: Taylor Swift! O \u00e1lbum se chama Midnights <\/em>e as cr\u00edticas sobre ele est\u00e3o um pouquinho divididas, vamos conferir:<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift has released her 10th studio album, Midnights, which she announced while accepting the trophy for Video of the Year at MTV\u2019s Video Music Awards in August. In addition to the Lana Del Rey collaboration \u201cSnow on the Beach,\u201d Midnights features production and instrumentation from Swift\u2019s longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. <\/em>She previously described the album as “stories of 13 sleepless nights, scattered throughout my life”.<\/em><\/p>\n

The album <\/em>was awarded five stars by both the Guardian and the Independent.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Guardian said Midnights is a “cool, collected and mature” record which is “packed with fantastic songs”. In a five-star review, the Guardian’s Alexis Petridis said Midnights “delivers her firmly from what she called the ‘folklorian woods’ of her last two albums back to electronic pop”.<\/em><\/p>\n

But some criticized the lack of radio hits, like the Evening Standard, who said \u201cthere is not a smash hit in sight”. Their writer David Smyth was significantly less enthusiastic, awarding the album just two stars. “It’s hard to spot anything that sounds like a smash hit on Swift’s third muted collection in a row,” he wrote. “The brighter Karma, presumably another dig at Braun, is the only song that feels like it could be a highlight when she eventually returns to the stage. Otherwise Midnights sounds ready for bed.”<\/em><\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Independent critique was a five star praise to the entire \u00e1lbum saying that \u201cthe pop star unpacks her darkest dreams, deepest doubts and cruelest thoughts. All the while she keeps things just cryptic enough to keep the tension crackling and the speculation buzzing.\u201d Well, I guess you must hear it to tell, right?<\/em><\/p>\n

Pra finalizar, vou ensinar uma palavra legal pra enriquecer o vocabul\u00e1rio de voc\u00eas, que foi usada aqui nessa not\u00edcia, na frase: \u201cBut some criticized the lack of radio hits\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

A palavra \u201clack\u201d significa \u201cfalta\u201d. Apesar de \u201cI miss you\u201d poder ser traduzido para \u201csinto sua falta\u201d, quando queremos falar sobre algo \u201cfaltando\u201d usamos \u201clack\u201d – tanto como verbo, quanto substantivo.<\/em><\/p>\n
